Developing new habits and ways of thinking really starts when you put it into practice. You can only get so far by thinking about it. It's by doing that you see the real power and potential of Toyota Kata as a skill building process for you and your team.
We're going to dive into a hands-on approach and practice Toyota Kata at the Zingerman’s Mailorder Warehouse, where real-world conditions bring coaching and scientific thinking to life. Practice, Experiment, Learn, Reflect.
Join us for a unique event where you'll dive deep into the practice of Toyota Kata. Through hands-on exercises and reflective learning, you'll uncover the transformative power of integrating new habits and thought patterns into your leadership approach and the everyday work of the people you are responsible for. If you are new to Kata and have participated in the Kata Practitioner Day, this is a great way to experience Toyota Kata first hand and under real world conditions. If you already have Kata experience, the two days with the Zingerman’s Mailorder team and Tilo Schwarz are a fantastic opportunity to increase your ability and confidence in practicing Improvement Kata and Coaching Kata with your team.
What to Expect:
During the two workshop days, we intend to personally try out the following four routines:
Understanding, capturing, and describing current states
Deriving challenging, solution-free target states
Conducting and reflecting on PDCA cycles towards the target state
Guiding your mentee with the Coaching Kata
We will practice in small groups under the guidance of an experienced coach. All necessary tools and forms will be provided. Starting with the role of the process improver or learner, participants will then progress to practice the role of the coach, and get an understanding of the role of a 2nd coach.
Each role, with its unique features, will be understood and internalized in detail. All applied forms and tools can be immediately implemented in your own company after the course to continue practicing Kata.
